About

What is it all about?

It’s about recognizing when enough is enough.

When it feels too overwhelming and life becomes unmanageable day-to-day, that’s when you know it’s time.

When the demands and responsibilities have you stressed out and there’s no end in sight that’s when you know you need some help.

When your relationships are suffering and communication seems impossible at this point, that’s when you decide a change needs to happen or the relationship needs to end.

When you’re sad or worry much of the time, when your energy is shot and your ability to keep up appearances is too much, that’s when enough is enough.

It’s about acceptance and understanding.

It’s about accepting where you are and how you got here.

Working toward change starts with awareness. We start our work with understanding your perception of the problem, and we work together to examine that perspective closely.

We look at how you have tried to manage these challenges in life and decide what has helped and led you to where you are today.

We recognize that you can make a change.

It’s about commitment to yourself.

Now we commit to learning.

We identify what emotions are present for you from day to day. Is it sadness? Is it anger? Is it worry?

We talk about how those emotions affect your daily life.

Do you cry? Do your thoughts race? Are you arguing with people? Do you put yourself down?

We commit to your readiness for change.

Every person is unique, and the work you do in therapy is your own. There is no set pace – and there is no pressure. I will help you understand that therapy is not a race; it’s a journey. We will take it one step at a time.

Finally, it’s about making changes.

So, what can you expect from our work together?

You can expect to see your obstacles from a different perspective.

You can expect to be uncomfortable at times because change is painful.

You will be challenged to try and try hard.

You can also expect to learn the skills and techniques necessary to manage your emotions, as well as your life.

And… you can look forward to seeing the work you put into yourself truly make a difference.

About Me

My Journey

Well, I knew at a very early age that my interest was in the human brain and how we tick. I read my first novel in 6th grade, “The Many Minds of Billy Milligan.” This book became a pivotal point in my life at the very young age of 12. I was genuinely fascinated by the concept of mental health and made the statement that I was going to study Psychology in college. So, I did.

As I became older, it was evident that my goal in life was to help others. I continued my education and received my master’s degree in counseling from West Chester University, becoming licensed thereafter.

When a person commits to helping others as a career, generally, it coincides with who they are as a person. I found throughout my life that who I am would have led to nothing other than being a therapist.

Having worked in many areas of this field over decades, I recognized the need to keep learning.

I became knowledgeable not only in the vast world of mental health, but also in addiction. I have worked with a wide array of people throughout the years, each teaching me something new about who we are as individuals.

Regardless of who I have the pleasure of working with, I always come to the same conclusion; this career chose me because of who I am, and it became what I was meant to do with my life.

When I’m not working…

Well, I’m a people person, so socializing is a must. However, I could be considered an introverted extrovert. I love to hang out with my family and friends, but I also feel very content when I have time to myself. The balance between socializing and alone time is necessary for me.

I also exercise regularly, not that I like it very much, but it’s a necessary evil so that I can play on the weekends. It’s all a part of self-care, which should always be a priority. Oh, and when I’m not working, I also most certainly love to snuggle up with my fuzzy babies: Rooney, Lucy, Freddie Purrcury, and our puppy, Moose. 🙂
